These are a few of my favorite things…

So, I’ve had this song stuck in my head all day (I work with kids) and it’s safe to say I had to figure out a way to use it to my advantage. I thought it’d make sense to start out with discussing some of my favorite books/genres since I’m new to this whole blogging thing. After all, we’re just getting to know each other and discussing interests is one of the best ways to do just that.

I don’t know about any of you out there but there tends to be a bit of fluctuation for my top 10 lists on any given day but for the most part, my top rankings are usually pretty consistent. With that, here are my favorites as of this point in my life:

Books/Series:

• #1 (tied): Harry Potter series & Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series
• #2: Water for Elephants – Sara Gruen
• #3: Sara Donati’s Into the Wilderness series
• #4: The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini
• #5: The Secret Diary of Miss Miranda Cheever – Julia Quinn

Genres:

• Historical Fiction
• Dystopian Novels
• Thriller/Suspense
• Romance (what can I say, I love a good smut novel)
• Plain ole’ fiction

I’ve read all of these books a million times and no matter what, I always enjoy every last morsel of each work. Between that and the fact that I’m constant recommending these books to people are how they end up ranked.

I do feel the need to point out that while these are my favorites, I read pretty much anything and everything. My nose is usually stuck in a book of some kind and I like to think I’m a rather well-rounded reader. Except westerns. It takes a pretty damn convincing recommendation to get me to read that genre and/or watch a movie in that genre. Just not my cup of tea. To each their own, right?
